    Primary Purpose:

    Support the daily operations of the school library. The ideal candidate will help maintain a welcoming and resource-rich environment that encourages reading, research, and learning for students and staff.
     

    Qualifications:

     

                    Education/Certification:

    High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
    Valid Texas educational aide certificate
     
    Special Knowledge/Skills:
    Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
    Ability to work well with children
    Ability to communicate effectively
     
    Experience:
    Some experience working with children

    Major Responsibilities and Duties:

     
    1. Assist students and teachers in locating, borrowing, and returning books and materials
    2. Help maintain the library catalog and circulation system
    3. Shelve returned materials and keep collections organized and accessible
    4. Support classroom projects by helping locate appropriate research materials
    5. Supervise student use of the library, ensuring a quiet and respectful atmosphere
    6. Assist in preparing and promoting reading programs, book fairs, and library events
    7. Help process new books and materials, including labeling and cataloging
    8. Perform clerical tasks such as inventory management, overdue notices, and data entry
    9. Provide basic technical support for computers and audiovisual equipment
    10. Enforce library and school policies to ensure a safe and productive learning space
     

    Student Management

     
    1. Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
    2. Make teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.
     

    Other

     
    1. Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
    2. Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.
    3. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

    Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment
    Posture: Moderate standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping

    Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise
