Reporting to the Director of Library Services, the Electronic Resources Librarian manages essential tasks throughout the electronic resources’ lifecycle, including acquisitions, ordering, invoicing, activation, subscription maintenance, and electronic resources troubleshooting and problem resolution.
 

Manage and Maintain Electronic Resources:

  • Invoicing and Ordering
    Prepares purchase orders for renewals.
    Maintains and updates vendor contact information in the library services platform.

  • Creates purchase orders and invoices in the ERM system.

  • Responsible for any procurement related items such as contracts (SPC's) for annual subscriptions/memberships, requisitions to have a purchase order created, or SIR (supplier invoice requests) for one-time registrations to conferences.

  • Primary contact with electronic resources, including databases and e-books, with vendors for updates, trials, and price negotiations. This task involves being the main point of contact for vendors regarding electronic resources, databases, and e-books. It includes managing relationships and coordinating feedback from library staff, students, and faculty.

  • Administer and maintain electronic resources, including costs and usage statistics spreadsheets, which are crucial to students, faculty, and staff outcomes. This task involves managing electronic resource vendors for updates, trials, and price negotiations. The spreadsheet is shared with the Library Director and the library group once during the Fall and the Spring semesters. This task also involves evaluating and developing electronic resources collection and assist in developing and evaluating the physical book collection.

Assessment and Statistics:

  • Maintains daily, monthly, quarterly and annual statistics on personal productivity and other metrics assigned by Director of Library Services.

  • Collaborates with BU librarians to create ERM goals in alignment with Barry University and with the Library’s IEP goals.

  • Participates in ERM assessment activities, including reporting of statistics, trends, and impact using library service EBSCO FOLIO platform, OCLC, and other resources, summarizing and presenting data using Microsoft Excel spreadsheet applications.    

Serves the Barry University community by:

  • Actively participating in activities and events beyond the library walls to grow deeper awareness of library resources and services.

  • May involve participating at external professional meetings based budget, interests and needs of the Barry University Library.

  • Maintain the library’s main website with external partners. 

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Management, Library Science or related field of study.

  • ALA Accredited MLS/MLIS degree or equivalent in library administration preferred

Or

Experience

  • Three years related experience. Requires one or more of the following: computer skills, special skills, or proficiency in a foreign language.   

Library Required Skills:

  • Ability to build and sustain effective interpersonal relationships with library staff, faculty and students and administrators.

  • Evidence of analytical, organizational, communication, project, and time management skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and complete tasks and projects on time and within budget and in accordance with task/project parameters.

  • Demonstrate proficiency and capabilities with personal computers and software, the Web, and library-relevant information technology applications. Working knowledge of standard computer office applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint or other productivity software.

  • Ability to respond effectively to changing needs and priorities.

Library Required Skills:

  • Experience with electronic resources management from a public services perspective.

  • Recent and relevant experience working in the public services area of libraries.
