Arizona State University Library is recruiting a collaborative Humanities Librarian primarily focusing on East Asian Studies.

This position is situated within the Engagement and Learning Services Directorate. The Arts and Humanities Division is comprised of a team of librarians who are dedicated to shaping the future of student and faculty instructional support and research endeavors at ASU. The Division's portfolio of responsibilities is broad and involves a high level of interdisciplinary engagement within the humanities and the arts. Reporting to the Head of the Arts and Humanities Division, the successful candidate will have a broad understanding of scholarly information trends across the humanities and will connect learners across ASU’s physical campuses and online programs to library information, resources, and services. This individual will work with campus partners across departments, centers, schools, and institutes to build strong multidisciplinary relationships supporting research and student success. The incumbent will help define new services, develop programs and collections, and serve as a resource for scholarly communication, research data management, and information literacy in the humanities.

The East Asian Studies Librarian fulfills the responsibilities expected of continuing appointment track Academic Professionals, including position effectiveness, professional contributions, service, and collaboration and partnership.

ASU Library will dedicate resources and expertise to onboarding, peer mentoring, and professional development to ensure the success of the East Asian Studies Librarian. It will build a network to encourage support, growth, and retention while simultaneously encouraging the librarian's research interests and scholarly pursuits. Required Qualifications:

●     Master’s degree in library and/or information science from an American Library Association accredited program or equivalent advanced degree by the hire date.

●     An undergraduate OR graduate degree in East Asian (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) languages, literatures, and/or civilization

  Preferred Qualifications:

●     Advanced degree in East Asian (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) languages, literatures, and/or civilization

●     Library experience providing services and support to humanities disciplines

●     Experience providing reference consultations

●     Experience providing instructional services

●     Experience with digital humanities

●     Demonstrated understanding of the research process and data lifecycle in the humanities

●     Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to work creatively and effectively both independently and as a team member

●     Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Salary and Rank: This is a Continuing Appointment track Academic Professional position; Assistant/Associate Librarian rank and salary dependent upon experience.
