The Minot Public Library is accepting applications for the position of Children’s Library Assistant, with an application deadline of Friday, May 1st 2026. This position is open to all qualified internal and external applicants.
Nature of Work
This responsible customer service position ensures the proper circulation of materials, accurate library customer registration, and effective customer assistance. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Children’s Librarian. This staff member is responsible for supporting the library's goals and objectives by participating as a team member and supporting Library Board policies and strategic plans. Salary: $16.37/hour
Benefits: PTO: Prorated to hours worked
Shift Flexibility Required: Monday through Thursday (4:00 - 8:00 pm) Every 3rd Saturday (9:30 –5:00) 16 - 23.5 hours per week
Education, Experience, Other Requirements
• Completion of a High School diploma
• Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of hire
• Ability to file and maintain records in an alphabetized system
• Some basic clerical knowledge
• Ability to establish positive rapport with staff, children, and caregivers
• Ability to work collaboratively
• Possess excellent customer service skills
• Ability to communicate (hear and speak clearly) with staff, patrons, and others
• Possesses an understanding of and uses proper time management skills
