We're searching for a dedicated Library Technician II to join our team at the Utah County Bookmobile Headquarters located in Mapleton. This is a part-time position working 28 hours per week. This is a working-level position where you'll ensure our bookmobile library and headquarters operate in a professional manner.

Please note: The daily work for this role is performed in Mapleton, UT at our Headquarters Library. The Library Technician does not drive the Bookmobile or regularly travel with it.

Bookmobiles have been a vital part of Utah’s rural library service for over 50 years, and we're proud to partner with your County Commissioners to bring essential library services directly to communities throughout your area. In this role, you'll work directly with another local team member who is on the Bookmobile. You'll also be part of a larger, supportive team of coworkers across the state. Your day-to-day work will involve providing excellent customer service to patrons of all ages, as well as operational support for the bookmobile program. What You'll Do:
You'll play a crucial role in ensuring our rural bookmobile service runs smoothly while providing library services to patrons at the local bookmobile headquarters in Mapleton. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide direct patron services such as, but not limited to, issuing library cards, readers advisory, computer lab assistance, and information help.
  • Provide direct support to the bookmobile librarian such as, but not limited to, remote patron assistance, records management, and collection maintenance.
  • Assist with collection management using centralized tools for item selection, cataloging, and processing with a collaborative statewide team.
  • Manage patron requests efficiently through the Interlibrary Loan system, item holds, shared State Library collections, research databases, and item purchase requests.
  • Coordinate and/or create program experiences to be delivered at the headquarters library and from the bookmobile.
  • Promote bookmobile services and schedules with the State Library’s marketing team using virtual tools like social media and with printed items for patrons.
  • Help to maintain a clean and welcoming environment within the headquarters library, including emptying trash, dusting, and general upkeep.
  • Work in collaboration with partner agency staff members. May also coordinate volunteers.

  • Is highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to arrange information logically.

Preferences may be given to candidates with strong computer skills and a demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly.
