Job Description
1. Develop and conduct workshops and training sessions for researchers, clinicians, and students on locating, evaluating, and using clinical, omics or other healthcare data for informatics research.2. Provide research consultation and referral service in the areas of biomedical informatics and healthcare data analytics. Offer guidance on curating and analyzing healthcare datasets and identify relevant experts for collaboration.3. Collaborate with research teams to address more complex research questions and data challenges.4. Collaborate on the curation of a biomedical data catalog, including metadata and stewardship information about YSM’s data assets and commonly used public and proprietary data sources.5. As a representative of the library, interact with various groups involved in biomedical informatics research and clinical and other healthcare data, such as the Section of Biomedical Informatics and Data Science and the Joint Data Analytics Team.6. Stay current with research trends and emerging technologies in the domain of biomedical informatics, including natural language processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.7. Actively engage with the biomedical informatics community, presenting at relevant professional conferences.8. May be required to assist with disaster recovery.9. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
1. ALA accredited master’s degree in library or information science; or a master’s degree in health, clinical, or biomedical informatics, or an equivalent degree in a relevant field.2. Two years of related professional experience.

Position Focus:
Reporting to the Head of Technology and Innovation, this position works closely with the Research and Education Librarians for Bioinformatics, the Data Librarian for the Health Sciences, as well as the Clinical Research and Education Librarians to provide support services to clinicians and researchers who use clinical and other healthcare data for informatics research. This position serves as the primary liaison between the library and the biomedical informatics research groups and clinical data groups at the Medical Center. Through education, consultation, collaboration and outreach activities, this role integrates library support into the increasingly dynamic and data-intensive world of healthcare and biomedical research.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Experience working with data from EHR systems, working with data in a closed, computationally intensive, cloud-based environment with large biobanks. Familiar with computing in Linux and shell scripting. Experience with database management and SQL. Familiar with vocabulary and data interoperability standards for EHR systems. Experience working in a clinical setting/health sciences library.

Work Days/Hours (Other than Standard)
Work location is currently hybrid, with in-person on site required 2 days a week.

Required Skill/Ability 1:
Demonstrated ability to work with biomedical research data using Python or R.

Required Skill/Ability 2:
Ability to teach workshops and training sessions and adjust to different student levels.

Required Skill/Ability 3:
Demonstrated excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications and analytical ability.

Required Skill/Ability 4:
Demonstrated record of designing projects and bringing them to conclusion in a timely fashion. Ability working collaboratively and independently with varied groups within a complex organization and dynamic team environment.

Required Skill/Ability 5:
Familiarity with best practices in data curation and stewardship, including metadata standards and FAIR principles.
