SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Library Director, the Adult Services Librarian is responsible for front desk activity and providing reference assistance for adult patrons, as well as researching and directing the library’s adult collection development.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plans, organizes and supervises the Adult’s Division and places orders for the selection of adult books and other library materials.
2. Prepares book lists for Adult Division and provides reference services to adults and young adults; provides reader’s advisory service, preparing and distributing listings for special topics, additions to the collection and suggestions for reading.
3. Plans and conducts programs, exhibits, and displays for adults to encourage use and knowledge of library resources.
4. Responsible for all aspects of inter-library loan services including keeping records of each inter-library loan for referral and statistical purposes.
5. Participates in the formation of library policies for adults; assists in preparing library budget, and maintains expenditures within approved budget.
6. Reads professional literature and attends professional meetings.
7. Utilizes ILS system and databases for reference andresearch purposes.
8. Performs other duties of a similar nature and complexity as directed.
PREFERRED BACKGROUND:
MLS degree with three to five years of related experience.
