This Youth Services Librarian II position oversees the Youth Services Department of South Cobb Regional Library, located in the City of Mableton. This position is responsible for supervising a full-time Librarian I; implementing engaging programs for children, teens, and families; conducting community outreach; and establishing partnerships to strengthen the library’s youth services offerings.
A Georgia Librarian Certification is also required for this position.
Work hour requirements include some nights and weekends, including Sunday hours 12:30-5 every seven weeks. Candidates may be expected to adjust their schedule to accommodate community outreach events.
Develops and implements library programs and activities in assigned areas: designs programming to targeted readership; maintains records of program participation; assists in developing goals and objectives for area of specialty; recommends allocation of financial, staffing, equipment, space, and bibliographic resources necessary to meet goals and objectives; interprets goals, objectives, and policies to the public; and coordinates and oversees arrangement of physical facilities in assigned area; and manages the library in the absence of the branch manager.
Preferred Qualifications
Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Librarian certification.
Tasks require the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).

Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as rude/irate customers.
