We’re hiring a Youth Services Librarian to join our dynamic team at the Round Rock Public Library. You’ll be part of a vibrant, community-focused department that values innovation, inclusion, and excellence in public service. Posted range is the starting salary.  Pay rate offered is based on experience.

What You’ll Do

As a Youth Services Librarian, you’ll be a creative force behind children’s programming and a go-to resource for families. You’ll also use your customer service skills to engage and support kids of all ages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead engaging children’s programs, toddler story times, and special events that spark curiosity and joy.
  • Provide high-level reference and reader’s advisory services to children, parents, and caregivers.
  • Use technology to assist patrons with digital literacy, research, and computer troubleshooting.
  • Develop and maintain a portion of the youth collection, ensuring it reflects the needs and interests of our diverse community.
  • Update and manage content for the library’s website and social media platforms.
  • Serve as a liaison to schools, community groups, and other City departments—bringing the library beyond its walls.
  • Conduct library tours and outreach visits to promote services and foster community connections.
  • Support general library operations, opening/closing procedures, and training staff and volunteers.

Experience and Training

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, collaborative, and passionate about youth services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program.
  • At least two (2) years of library experience required.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Comfort with technology and a willingness to learn new tools.
  • Creativity, flexibility, and a sense of fun!
  •  Bilingual skills are beneficial.
