This position serves as a Supervisory Librarian (Cataloging and Metadata Unit Supervisor located in the Cataloging and Metadata Unit, Moving Image Section, National Audio-Visual Conservation Center, Researcher and Collections Services at the Library of Congress in Culpeper, Virginia.
As a Supervisory Librarian (Cataloging and Metadata Unit Supervisor) you will:
- Supervise a group of employees performing professional and technical work up to the GS-13 level.
- Establish guidelines and performance expectations for staff members, which are clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system.
- Serve as an expert in the organization, development, and implementation of multiple projects and concurrent projects relating to the processing, inventorying and cataloging of the Library of Congress' published and unpublished moving image collections.
- Serve as a project leader, team leader, or chairperson for working groups, task forces, committees, etc., pertaining to the processing and cataloging of published and unpublished moving image materials held by the Library of Congress.
- Solve highly complex problems relating to the processing, inventorying and cataloging of published and unpublished moving image collections and materials, or problems that involve relationships among the different cataloging functions.
- Organize, develop, and schedule training projects for a wide variety of materials related to bibliographic access and other cataloging and collection management tools for moving image collections.
- Initiate, establish, and maintain professional relationships with recorded sound and moving image archivists, reference librarians, preservation engineers and other specialists to share resources and information as well as to coordinate workflow within the NAVCC and the Library.

The salary range indicated reflects the locality pay adjustments for the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan area.
The incumbent of this position will work a Flexitime or Compflex work schedule.
This is a supervisory, non-bargaining unit position.

Qualifications
Applicants must have had progressively responsible experience and training sufficient in scope and quality to furnish them with an acceptable level of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position without more than normal supervision.
Ability to supervise and lead a workforce.**
Knowledge of cataloging standards and best practices relating to cataloging special formats such as unpublished and/or published moving image or audio-visual collections and materials.**
Ability to manage projects.**
Ability to communicate in writing.
Ability to provide consultation and liaison services.
Ability to communicate effectively other than in writing.
