Summer Library Assistant PT: American Heritage School is a mission-driven, faith-centered private school aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are seeking a part-time Summer Library Assistant who is organized, dependable, and eager to support student learning through access to books and library resources.

Nature of the Role
This position is considered a faith-forming role within American Heritage School. In addition to assisting with daily library operations, the Summer Library Assistant is expected to interact with students and families in a manner that reflects the Mission and values of AHS and supports a positive, respectful, and welcoming library environment.

Qualifications
Candidates should be dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a structured environment. Prior experience in a library, school, or organizational setting is helpful but not required. Successful candidates will demonstrate a willingness to learn, the ability to follow systems and procedures, strong organizational habits, and a positive, service-oriented attitude. The ability to work independently, communicate clearly, and assist students and families in a friendly and professional manner is essential.

Faith and Mission Responsibilities
In addition to responsibilities with the library, faculty at AHS are expected to integrate faith-based principles and moral reasoning into support within the library, where appropriate, serving as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students, support and uphold the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues, participate in school-wide devotionals, prayer, and other faith-centered activities, and respond thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making in a manner consistent with the school's mission.

Professional Expectations
Candidates should be professional in appearance and demeanor and willing and able to serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement. Personal conduct, public statements, and online presence, both on and off campus, are expected to reflect and support the school's religious mission and educational purpose.

Primary Responsibilities
The Summer Library Assistant will support the daily operations of the Summer Library Access Program. Responsibilities will include assisting with book check-in and check-out procedures, shelving books and maintaining organization within the library collection, shelf-reading to ensure materials are accurately placed, assisting students and families in locating books and navigating the library, supporting basic library projects such as reclassification, labeling, and organizing materials, helping maintain a clean, orderly, and welcoming library environment, and assisting the librarian with preparation tasks such as covering books, labeling, light administrative work and ongoing summer projects as needed.

Communication and Organization
Candidates should demonstrate the ability to follow established systems and procedures, communicate clearly with the supervising librarian, and interact positively with students, parents, and staff. Attention to detail and consistency in completing tasks is essential for maintaining an organized and functional library space.

Position Details
This is a part-time summer position running from June 2, 2026 through July 30, 2026. The schedule is Tuesday-Thursday, 9:00am-1:00pm. Compensation is based on experience.
