Department Information
The University Libraries has been a cornerstone of the University since it was founded in 1874. Today it encompasses a blend of cutting-edge research facilities and services, including the state-of-the-art Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center (main library), Special Collections and University Archives, DeLaMare Science and Engineering Library, Jon Bilbao Basque Library, and @One Digital Media and Technology Center. The University Libraries fulfills its mission to further intellectual inquiry and innovation; partner with students and faculty in the creation of new knowledge; and foster excellence in education through providing access to scholarly resources, active learning environments, contemporary technology, and knowledgeable assistance, all with an underlying core focus on diversity and inclusion.
The University of Nevada, Reno Libraries invites applications for a Student Success Librarian (tenure-track, Assistant Professor level). This position will focus on library outreach, engagement, and instruction to support diverse student populations and promote academic success across campus. The successful candidate will also serve as a subject or functional liaison, based on their expertise and interests. Reporting to the Director of Research and Instructional Services, the Student Success Librarian plays a key role in fostering student engagement and building partnerships across campus. This position involves active collaboration with campus programs, a strong commitment to service, and a passion for student-centered outreach and instruction.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop, deliver, and assess in-person and online library services supporting student success, particularly for early undergraduate and underserved populations.
Partner with campus programs such as Dual Credit, Core Writing, Nevada FIT, and initiatives for first-generation, transfer, and international students.
Serve as liaison to one or more academic or functional areas.
Provide instruction to visiting high school groups.
Create instructional materials to enhance students’ information literacy, including Canvas modules, online tutorials, and library guides.
Deliver curriculum-integrated library instruction in collaboration with faculty.
Offer research support both in person and online.
Stay informed of trends in student success, outreach, and engagement; integrate innovative practices and technologies.
Foster inclusive services that support students from diverse backgrounds.
Participate in department-wide research assistance and outreach activities; collaborate with other library units as needed.
Conduct scholarly research, publish in peer-reviewed venues, and present at professional conferences.
Contribute to university and professional service through committee work and other activities.
Required Qualifications
ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in a library or instruction setting
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing or participating in campus programs, student support activities, or other co-curricular outreach to students
Experience planning and delivering innovative library services and/or information literacy instruction
Experience with instructional design strategies and tools that support online learning such as LibGuides and Canvas
Background in and/or familiarity with one or more subject areas (e.g. social sciences, arts) or functional areas (e.g. GIS, data support, evidence syntheses, instructional design).
