Description

LAC Federal is seeking a Senior Technical Information Librarian/Library Manager to oversee a medium-sized library and information center that provides open-source and classified scientific, technical, and engineering library support. The Librarian will be responsible for managing a team of 10+ library professionals and paraprofessionals in providing superior customer experience. The Librarian will provide planning and execution of all aspects of the library and information center including training and supervision of all staff to ensure compliance with minimum performance standards for the timeliness, quality, and professionalism of all work products.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide management and supervision of all library and information center operations
  • Create and update standard operating procedures for all library tasks including project implementation plans, plans of action, and milestone charts
  • Lead collection development and acquisition including policy development, selection, acquisition, and cataloging
  • Plan and coordinate collections maintenance activities for print and electronic resources
  • Plan and executive outreach and training to library and information center users
  • Provide training for staff on proper procedures and protocols
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage for all library and information center functions on a daily basis
  • Provide reference and other information services
  • Submit bimonthly, monthly, quarterly, and annual status reports on all library projects and activities


Requirements

Mandatory Position Requirements:

  • BA/BS and Master's Degree in Library and Information Science or other relevant field combined with library and/or archival experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams in an engineering and scientific library setting
  • Demonstrated experience with specialized information sources including the structure, content, and access protocols of electronic databases to produce selected and annotated bibliographies on specific subjects
  • Demonstrated experience with coordinating outreach events to educate users about new and current recourses available,
  • Demonstrated experience with interpreting, explaining, and applying standards for data collection, management, curation and accessibility
  • Demonstrated experience with providing oversight of library staff and coordination of tasking, knowledge of digital rights laws, regulations, copyright, and licensing
  • Demonstrated experience with Advanced Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Access, and Adobe Professional
  • Demonstrated experience with Drupal and Islandora

Preferred Position Requirements:

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance strongly preferred
