Duties: The Senior Library Assistant (MakerLab Coordinator) performs advanced paraprofessional work coordinating the operations, programming, and services of the Pasadena Public Library MakerLab. This position supports the library's mission by providing innovative learning opportunities that promote creativity, digital literacy, and hands-on exploration of emerging technologies.Working in a diverse environment, the Senior Library Assistant (MakerLab Coordinator) helps expand access to STEAM education and maker technologies by developing programs, assisting patrons with creative projects, and providing instruction on specialized equipment such as 3D printers, laser cutters, digital fabrication tools, and other MakerLab technologies. The Senior Library Assistant (MakerLab Coordinator) collaborates with library staff, community partners, and local organizations to deliver engaging programs and learning experiences for patrons of all ages. Coordinates and oversees the day-to-day operations of the MakerLab, maintaining a welcoming, safe, and organized environment that encourages creativity, learning, and exploration of new technologies. Develops and implements maker-focused programs, workshops, and hands-on learning opportunities for patrons, with particular emphasis on serving adults. Provides instruction and guidance to patrons and staff in the use of MakerLab technologies and equipment, including one-on-one assistance, group instruction, open lab hours, and scheduled appointments. Assists patrons with creative projects, troubleshooting technical issues, and developing skills related to MakerLab tools, software, and digital fabrication technologies. Operates, monitors, and maintains MakerLab equipment such as 3D printers, laser cutters, sewing machines, vinyl cutters, and other emerging technologies. Performs basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance of MakerLab equipment and software while coordinating with vendors and the City's Information Technology department for advanced technical support. Manages MakerLab supply inventory, monitors materials and equipment usage, and coordinates the purchasing of supplies as needed. Receives, prepares, and processes patron 3D printing requests and other MakerLab production services. Works collaboratively with library staff to develop and implement maker-related programming across library locations and outreach initiatives. Coordinates program logistics including scheduling, organizing equipment and materials, collaborating with presenters or community partners, and managing setup and breakdown of events. Builds and maintains partnerships with local community organizations, businesses, and educational institutions to expand MakerLab programming and community engagement. Monitors emerging trends, community needs, and new technologies related to makerspaces and digital creativity to ensure MakerLab services remain innovative and relevant. Collects program and usage statistics, prepares reports, and assists with evaluation of MakerLab services and activities. May assist with coordinating schedules, training, and mentoring volunteers, interns, or support staff assigned to the MakerLab. Participates in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and collaborative planning initiatives within the library system. Ensures compliance with safety procedures and library policies related to the use of MakerLab equipment and facilities. Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and after regular business hours as necessary. Must have and maintain, without interruption, required certifications and licenses. Works assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policies. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED with (2) years of experience using Makerspace related equipment and tools. Experience working in a Makerspace or community-focused technology environment. Experience developing and implementing programming, workshops and one-on-one learning opportunities. Valid Texas driver's license. PREFERRED: Public Library experience working with technology and the general public. Bilingual (English/Spanish).
