The San Diego Unified School District is currently accepting applications for the position of School Library Technician II. This opportunity is open to all interested candidates.

 

This recruitment will be used to establish an Eligibility List for the current vacancies shown below as well as any future vacancies.  This list will be active for three (3) months with the possibility to be extended.

BASIC FUNCTION:

The School Library Technician II will work under general direction of a Librarian, Media Center Teacher, or other certificated staff assigned to supervise a school library, or a site administrator in a large secondary school, perform specialized library clerical and technical tasks related to the acquisition, processing, circulation, cataloging, maintenance, disposition, and record keeping for library media materials. Current Vacancies:

  • Crawford High School (Area F) - 4191 Colts Way, San Diego, CA 92115
  • Henry High School (Area D) - 6702 Wandermere Drive, San Diego, CA 92120
  • Marston Middle School (Area C) - 3799 Clairemont Drive, San Diego, CA 92117 
    • The District covers a large portion of San Diego County. Refer to the District Area Map at this Link and make sure to identify any and all specific area(s) you are interested in working in. The area(s) you identify in your application will be used for any future vacancies filled using the eligiblity list from this recruitment.
  • Work Schedule:  The above positions are 10 months, hours as follows: 
    • Crawford HS - 24 hours per week
    • Henry HS - 40 hours per week
    • Marston MS - 20 hours per week
  • Salary: This position is paid on the  OTBS Salary Schedule.  Grade 32.  To view the Salary Schedule, click here.
  • Positions greater than 20 hours per week qualify for District-paid health and wellness benefits for the employee and their eligible dependents.
  • Vacancies that require the incumbent to be Bilingual in English/Spanish will be noted. Candidates considered for positions that require bilingual skills will be invited to a Performance Test (Qualifying Only) for oral and written fluency. Bilingual positions qualify for a 5% bilingual differential.
  • Future Vacancies
    • Positions in this classification typically work 10 months of the year.
    • Set schedules for positions in this classification can vary with both part time and full-time schedules.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education and Experience:

Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to possession of a certificate of completion as a library technician from a two-year community college program. Two years of school or public library clerical experience supplemented by formal, directly related coursework may be substituted for possession of the certificate.

 

NOTE: Your related education and experience must be clearly represented in the work history and education section of your application.

Examination Process


The examination process includes an application screening and evaluation based on the applicant's education, work history, and responses to the application questions. Only applicants whose application packet demonstrates a combined education and experience which meets the minimum requirements for the position will be considered qualified and advance in the process. Some positions require applicants to pass additional components which may include one or more of the following: a multiple-choice, oral, written, or performance exam specific to the position. NOTE: Most exams are conducted remotely utilizing an online testing platform. For these exams, access to the internet and the use of a camera-ready desktop/laptop with a microphone is required to participate in these processes.
