Your Role
Gensler’s Denver office is seeking a Part-Time Library Coordinator, who is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Resource Library. The Materials Library is located within our Interior Design studio, which serves a wide range of clients within our large, multi-disciplinary firm. The successful candidate will be the point of contact for material vendor relationships and will also support the work of the studio by assisting the design teams with research and collaboration for project related work. We are looking for someone who is highly personable, professional, organized, and engaging. We estimate this role will require between 24 - 32 hours (3 or 4 days) per week onsite in our Denver Office.
What You Will Do
Vendor Relations
Point of contact with all vendors who contact and visit Gensler Denver, which includes coordinating vendor presentations, library appointments, weekly breakfast fairs, rotating product displays, learning and social events, and communicating needs of design teams
Maintain professional relationships internally and externally between the firm, consultants, and vendors, positively representing the firm at industry related events and the first face of Gensler when meeting in the office.
Ask meaningful questions to screen new products and vendors with a sustainability and design lens
Update and manage vendor directory
Schedule and follow up with vendors for material pickups and deliveries
Library Maintenance
Curate a library that is inclusive of top quality, aesthetically superior and sustainable building and interior design materials to inspire and meet the needs of design teams and that is consistent with other Gensler Resource Libraries
Seek out, educate and curate innovative, resilient materials and review products’ health and environmental impacts to support the Gensler Cities Climate Challenge (GC3)
Organize and catalog the Resource Library with physical samples
Oversee procurement, organization, and product knowledge of Gensler designed products
Ensure borrowed materials are returned to the library and filed appropriately
Manage sample returns, including sorting, packing, and shipping materials or arranging for vendors to pick up materials
Coordinate periodic donations to design schools and local organizations with the goal of diverting materials from the landfill
Create and maintain a library budget
Maintain digital library resources
Learning Coordination and Office Support
Research suitable products and material solutions for design projects, often related to sustainability, health and LEED certification
Provide visually compelling, rotating product displays and/or vignettes with emphasis on the reduction of embodied carbon in our projects
Coordinate learning opportunities and product presentations to educate team members and provide industry trend analysis
Record accredited continuing education course (CEU) attendance during Lunch and Learns
Manage internal communications for vendor presentations within the Resource Library
Share regular product updates and trends via Microsoft Teams and monthly email newsletters
Attend tradeshows and create educational presentations immediately following
Support Resource Library events and presentations
Manage project palette reservations throughout the office
Educate new and existing staff on proper library procedures and protocols and how to use the Designer Pages and Materials Bank
Independently create material palettes and inspiration image boards
Your Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Interior Design or related creative field
2+ years of experience in Interior Design or Design Industry
Former design firm or industry librarian experience preferred
Fluent knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
Excellent communication and follow-up skills with a hospitable disposition
Must be extremely organized, resourceful, detail-oriented, and proactive
Ability to focus, think critically, and prioritize in a very fast-paced environment
Enthusiastic and capable team player interested in contributing, learning, and growing with a passion for design
Familiarity with Architecture & Design industry-related terminology and application of materials
Strong research and retrieval skills, cataloguing
Passion for sustainability and resilience
Interested in finding innovative materials and educating team
Ideally already an active member of local design community
Knowledge of Revit a plus
Ability to lift 20+ pounds
**Compensation is based upon experience and estimated pay range is $25 - $35 per hour + bonuses and benefits.
