Education and Experience: A Master's degree or higher from an ALA accredited college or university in library science or information library science
Licenses and Certificates: Some positions may require a Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state.Under general supervision, perform professional librarian work in specialized library-related adult services to diverse populations in a library or community or residential environment including senior citizens, Spanish speaking or homebound individuals.
Assist patrons in locating and obtaining material. Involves: Promote library services, instruct patrons in use of automated card catalogs, periodicals, CD-ROM and library programs and services. Answer telephone, reference and information inquires. Arrange translations into Spanish for documents, releases and other materials generated by the library. Arrange tours of the Library for visiting groups.
Plan and implement specialized programs and services for diverse populations. Involves: Review, select and maintain materials for collections for diverse populations, review books received on approval and vendor catalogs and selects or recommends reference materials, government documents, children and young adults, computer services or books, videos, magazines, newspapers and other periodicals and materials to be acquired. Create and arrange exhibits and displays. Plan, direct and execute special projects and community programming. Conduct outreach and public speaking assignments, visits communities and or individuals either as a subject matter expert and/or to promote and provide special programs, activities and library services for both in house programming and off site program presentations.
