The Cushing Memorial Library and Archives at Texas A&M University is seeking a dynamic and innovative Outreach and Engagement Librarian to join their team. The Outreach and Engagement Librarian will be responsible for collaborating with colleagues to design, deliver, and promote library collections, exhibitions, events, and instructional sessions supporting information literacy, student success, and community engagement. This role will require a proactive and creative individual who is enthusiastic about outreach, community engagement, and making a positive impact.
Opportunities to Contribute:
Promote Special Collections and Archives (SCA) Division and Texas A&M University Libraries’ (Libraries) collection materials and services at library, university, and community events and through social media
Collaborate with the Public Services, Outreach, and Engagement team and SCA Division curators and archivists to coordinate the Cushing Memorial Library and Archives exhibition program
Provide general project management support, including division and interdepartmental collaborations with the Libraries’ Preservation, Marketing, and Web and User Experience teams
Collaborate with the Public Services, Outreach, and Engagement team and SCA Division curators and archivists to develop, implement, perform, and assess library tours for students, faculty, staff, and community visitors to the Cushing Memorial Library and Archives
Collaborate with the Libraries’ unit for outreach and programming effort to build partnerships with campus and community groups to communicate library needs, expectations and policies regarding tours and orientations
Assist SCA division curators and archivists and other Public Services, Outreach, and Engagement team members with classroom instruction
Participate in scholarly activities and professional service for professional development to incorporate new ideas and technologies into library services and programs
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in library science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of academic library functions
Experience with academic library outreach and instruction
A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess:
Two years of professional experience working in a university library, museum, or archives
Ability to communicate effectively with students, researchers, faculty, community members, and colleagues
Experience starting and completing special projects/programming and/or event coordination and planning
Experience in special collections and archival library outreach and instruction
Experience with special collection, archival, or museum exhibition curation or promotion
Ability to use a ladder, lift and manipulate heavy objects, push a book cart, and use large and small paper cutters
Starting Salary: $62,900.00 annually
Schedule/Location: The selected candidate will be expected to work in person at our College Station campus. Occasional evenings, early mornings, and weekends for special events and meetings will be required.
