Primary Purpose Of Position
The Music Library Manager is responsible for the functional operations of the Nicholas Erneston Music Library within the Broyhill Music Center. Specific duties include: Manage the Music Library service desk; Train, hire, and supervise student employees; Generate, organize, and update documentation related to the policies and procedures of the Music Library; Submit orders for physical and electronic materials; Oversee the processing of physical materials, order processing supplies, and prepare items for bindery; Organize the stacks maintenance and mapping programs; Manage facilities and physical space in collaboration with Broyhill Music Center and University Libraries’ facility managers; Assist with the design of social media content; Help organize and implement outreach events; Collaborate closely with the Music Library’s evening supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from a four-year college or university and one year of experience in a library or archives and/or records management; or high school and five years of experience in a library or archives and/or records management; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Qualifications
Ideally, candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in music, at least one year of customer service experience, and at least one year of supervisory, mentoring, or training experience. Additional experience with the following is also desired: Academic libraries; Hiring and evaluating direct reports; Setting and enforcing policies; Integrated library systems and other library technology solutions; Canva or other creative design programs.
