Maintenance Associate

Cook Memorial Public Library District is seeking responsible, team-minded individuals for three part-time Maintenance Associate positions at our Aspen Drive Library in Vernon Hills and at our Cook Park Library in Libertyville. Our ideal candidate is equally adept at providing customer service and able to work independently. These are permanent, year-round positions. 

AVAILABLE SCHEDULES:

Cook Park Library:

Monday and Wednesday, or Tuesday & Thursday evenings: 5-9pm with alternating weekends:

• Saturday: 8:30am-5pm
• Sunday: 11:30am-5pm

Aspen Drive Library:

Weekdays:

• Monday - Thursday: 2-5pm
• Friday: 2-6pm

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•    Maintaining cleanliness of building and grounds.
•    Performing light and routine maintenance work.
•    Delivering materials between our two locations.
•    Daily room set-ups for library events.
•    Seasonal duties such as snow removal and plant watering.
•    Building security.

REQUIREMENTS:
•    Able to lift 50 pounds, have the agility to use ladders, and get on and off roofs.
•    Able to read and understand equipment manuals.
•    Familiarity with tools, plumbing, painting, and cleaning techniques.
•    Able to easily communicate in English.
•    Basic computer skills.
•    Requires occasionally covering additional shifts at both our Cook Park Library and Aspen Drive Library locations.
•    Must have own transportation, valid Driver’s License and good driving record.
•    High School Graduate/GED.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: 
$20 per hour, depending on qualifications. Paid leave and scheduled holiday leave. Premium pay on Sundays. Yearly cost of living and merit increases.
