Position Overview

This position helps create a welcoming, accessible, and engaging library experience for residents of all ages. Through customer service, program support, and daily library operations, this role connects the community to educational resources, technology, information, and lifelong learning opportunities. The work performed in this position contributes to a positive public experience while supporting the library as a valued community space for learning, discovery, and connection.

Position Functions

Assist in the daily operation of the City library.

  • Create excellent customer experiences by providing an inviting atmosphere for library patrons and guests by providing positive and memorable library experiences.
  • Register new patrons in the library’s database, check materials in and out, shelve returned items, and help patrons locate items.
  • Assist with Children’s circulation desk duties as needed. 
  • Assist with Reference Desk duties, which may include answering questions, providing reader’s advisory services, helping patrons with computers, digital media, and library databases. 
  • Work evenings and weekend hours, including off-site and on-site special events and outreach activities and programs. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Customer service or administrative office experience
  • Six (6) months recent experience with Microsoft Office skills.

PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Liberal Arts or related field
  • Recent experience (within the past 3 years) working or volunteering in a public, school or academic library.

Supplemental Information

Applicants will be required to complete a Disclosure & Authorization Regarding Background Investigation, a Confidentiality Agreement and a criminal background screening.
