Join our library team as a Seasonal Library Technician and help create a welcoming, helpful, and engaging experience for our community! This position provides friendly, exceptional customer service while assisting patrons with library services, locating and selecting materials, using library catalogs and public computers, checking materials in and out, issuing library cards, processing fees, and answering questions. The Seasonal Library Technician also helps keep library collections organized by shelving materials, searching for missing items, processing new and returned materials, and assisting with inter-library and intra-library loans.
In addition to daily library operations, this position supports programs, activities, special events, displays, and community outreach opportunities. Responsibilities may also include preparing routine reports and correspondence, maintaining records, processing payments, assisting and training volunteers, and performing other duties that help keep the library running smoothly. The ideal candidate is friendly, dependable, organized, comfortable with technology, and passionate about helping people. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Stooping, standing for at least 2 hours, hearing, talking, crouching, seeing up close, standing, walking, sitting, finger movement, pulling, kneeling, repetitive motions, lifting, reaching, grasping, pushing. Frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is primarily performed in an indoor, climate-controlled environment and is usually absent from disagreeable elements (e.g., irate customers, extreme noise, heat, odors, heights and/or dust).
