Support daily library operations by organizing and maintaining library collections, shelving and locating materials, processing new books and reference items, and assisting with overdue notices and interlibrary loans. Helps prepare materials for distribution to branch locations and contributes to library programs, special events, and community outreach efforts. May assist with volunteer coordination, maintain records and routine reports, update databases and files, operate standard office equipment, and occasionally operate a county vehicle while ensuring efficient and welcoming library services for the community.

Education & Credentials That Power This Role

Education and Experience:
An equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience in customer service or library operations.

Licenses and/or Certificates:
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license. 

Your Purpose & Day-To-Day Journey

  • Knowledge of departmental policies, plans, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, plans, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other job-related computer programs and software applications.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic. 
  • Knowledge of Dewey Decimal system. 
  • Computer skills to include data entry, typing and record maintenance and internet skills. 
  • Accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • Skill in effective communication, both orally and in writing.
  • Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
  • Skill in the use of office equipment such as a computer, multi-line telephone system, scanner, fax machine, and copier.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports. 
  • Ability to provide internal/external guidance and customer assistance via all forms of communication. 
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.  
  • Ability to use computers for data entry, word processing, and/or accounting purposes.
  • Ability to author reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, service providers, other employees, and the general public.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE/RECOVERY ACTIVITIES:

All County employees are required to work before, during, or after an emergency as needed. This may include temporarily being assigned to work and performing duties outside of the normal scope of their position, location and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens.
