The Library Technician provides friendly, responsive customer service while supporting the day-to-day operations of the library. This position assists patrons with locating and checking out materials, using the library catalog and reference resources, obtaining library cards, reserving materials, and accessing public computers and other electronic devices. The Library Technician answers questions about library programs, services, and resources and helps create a welcoming and helpful environment for all library visitors.
This role also supports the organization, circulation, and maintenance of the library’s collection. Responsibilities include shelving and organizing materials, ensuring items are properly labeled and placed, searching for missing materials, and processing new books and reference materials. The Library Technician may enter and update catalog information, assist with overdue materials and notices, process materials for library branches, and perform minor book repairs. The position works closely with Librarians and other library staff to ensure materials are accurate, accessible, and ready for use by the community.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Stooping, standing for at least 2 hours, hearing, talking, crouching, seeing up close, standing, walking, sitting, finger movement, pulling, kneeling, repetitive motions, lifting, reaching, grasping, pushing. Frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is primarily performed in an indoor, climate-controlled environment and is usually absent from disagreeable elements (e.g., irate customers, extreme noise, heat, odors, heights and/or dust).
