Position Purpose
This position exists to support and assist the faculty librarians in a variety of ways. The Library Technician plays an important role in public service through a thorough knowledge of the library collections. This Tech provides primary work in acquisitions, budget maintenance, and public service. This position works directly with the Acquisitions Librarian to maintain the library budget.
Position Responsibilities

Acquisitions which include:
Receive all items into the library against purchase orders
Confirm orders and prices
Track invoices
Order and organize office supplies
Distribute titles to Cataloging Techs
Public Service / Staffing the Circulation Desk
Budget Maintenance and Billing
Maintain and update the internal library calendar, including the calendar of circulation desk coverage.
Archives / Under the direction of the Librarians, serve as primary technician for work related to the library’s archival material.
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $21.73 - $30.20/hour.
(DOQ – Salary Placement will be done at time of hire.)
The shift differential for employees working before 6:00 A.M. or after 6:00 P.M. shall be two dollars and twenty-five cents ($2.25) per hour for all hours worked before 6:00 A.M. or after 6:00 P.M.
Minimum Qualifications
Working knowledge of library classification system(s) and standard library reference tools sufficient to assist clients in locating materials and conducting research.

Ability to:
Apply and support detailed coding or cataloging systems sufficient to create tracking for new print and on-print library acquisitions and locate and replace existing materials
Operate personal computers, use various software and web-based applications, and other office equipment sufficient to locate catalog information, word-process documents, complete forms and prepare reports.
Communicate effectively orally and in writing sufficient to determine and respond to the informational needs of clients of varied educational levels and backgrounds; to train, direct and evaluate work of student clerical staff; and to assist the professional library staff to maintain the library collection according to library policy and procedures.
Physical Requirement: Occasional lifting of 10-30 pounds to handle print books and boxes of print books.
Preferred Qualification
AA or AS degree in Library Science or related field.
Library Science coursework with training or experience in library science
Experience with online library catalogs and databases
Basic knowledge of bookkeeping
Familiarity with basic spreadsheet creation and maintenance for budgeting purposes
Interview skills
Research skills
Typing/data entry skills
Customer service experience
Willingness to participate in training to keep informed on current college issues and library developments
Demonstrate knowledge of and an interest in diverse cultures and populations
