About This Role:
- Works at the service desk, providing superior customer service providing circulation assistance, explaining library policies and resources, and answering patron’s questions
- Opens and closes the building
- Assists patrons with the use of standard office equipment (scanners, copiers, printers, fax machines, PCs), Microsoft software, email sites, library apps (Libby, Hoopla, etc.), and digital resources (Ancestry, Kano, etc…)
- Reconciles receipts and deposits for the register and self-service kiosk
- Serves as the Team Lead or Person in Charge in the absence of management
- Assists with book displays, outreach events and programming (story time, book club, etc.)
- Responsible for several areas of the collection, including use of Integrated Library System reports
- Participates in Library committees and training sessions
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D
Preferences:
- Two years of customer service experience in a library, bookstore or retail environment
- Scheduling flexibility
- Experience assisting others with technology (PCs, tablets, eReaders), standard office equipment and Microsoft software
- Experience serving as the Team Lead or Person in Charge
- Experience with cash handling in a work setting
- Experience with event planning or programming (such as book club, story time, scavenger hunts, etc.)
- Experience with an Integrated Library System (ILS)
- Experience conducting reference interviews and offering readers’ advisory assistance
Special Requirements: The position may require travel to other branches within the system. A DMV check will be conducted for employees who drive while on County business.
Work Schedule:
This is a non-exempt 20 hour per week position. Scheduled hours typically include alternating Saturday shifts, one evening shift, and will fall within the following times: Monday – Wednesday 9am-6pm and Thursday – Saturday 9am-5pm.
Starting Salary Range: $21.14 - $32.17 per hour
