The City of Azusa Library Department is now hiring two (2) Library Pages.

$16.50 - $20.06 Hourly

DEADLINE TO APPLY:

DEFINITION

Under direct supervision of the City Librarian and/or designee, the Library Page organizes and shelves books and performs other simple related tasks and duties as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: 
  • Packing, unpacking, shelving books, documents, periodicals, supplies and other materials.
  • Shelf reading. 
  • Keeping public areas in neat and orderly condition by clearing tables of books and magazines and cleaning library materials, equipment, furniture, and book shelves.
  • May perform clerical tasks.
  • Provide simple directions to patrons.
  • May be asked to perform simple circulation duties.

  • Education: High School Diploma, or equivalent

Licenses or Certification

  • None.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge
  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
Ability
  • Understand and follow simple oral and written directions.
  • Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Understand and perform shelving methods.
  • Organization, functions and purposes of a library.
  • Sort material in alphabetic and numeric order.
  • Display a friendly, courteous, and helpful attitude. 
  • Dependable and punctual.
  • Deal tactfully with the public.
  • Maintain effective working relationship with other employees.

Special Requirements/Physical, Mental, Environmental Conditions

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
These are position functions which may be changed, deleted, or reassigned to accommodate an individual with a disability.

Environmental/Physical Conditions
  • Position requires sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and making repetitive hand movements above and below shoulder level in the performance of daily duties.
  • The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and acute hearing is required when providing face-to-face service. 
  • The ability to push book carts, lift and carry books and other supplies and other materials weighing up to 20 pounds is also required. 
  • Additionally, the incumbent in this position works indoors and sometimes outdoors.
