Brookline Public Library
Hourly Rate: $17.86/hourly

Hours: 16 hours per week, including some evenings, weekends, and summer Sundays. Must be available to work at the Main Library and other branches as needed.

The Brookline Public Library is seeking detail-oriented and customer service-focused Library Pages to support the daily operations of the Main Library in Brookline Village. This part-time position plays a critical role in ensuring that library materials are organized, accessible, and well-maintained.

Some training will be provided. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong customer service and organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Sort and shelve library materials accurately and efficiently
  • Use the Dewey Decimal System to organize books and other materials
  • Alphabetize and arrange returned items for reshelving
  • May assist in preparing materials for shelving by others
  • May help sort and distribute mail or file library documents
  • Assist staff with general support tasks as needed

Qualifications:

High school diploma, GED, or at least one year of work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with the Dewey Decimal System a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Ability to alphabetize and organize materials by call number
  • Ability to lift books and maneuver a loaded book cart
  • Comfortable using email and basic computer software
  • Ability to work patiently and courteously with the public and staff
  • Additional language skills are a plus
