This is routine library work of limited complexity, performed under direct supervision of other library staff. Duties and procedures can be learned by training on the job, with the employee working more independently after becoming familiar with procedures and responsibilities.
Shelves and straightens books, magazines, newspapers and audio/visual materials. Runs errands. Assists at the circulation desk as needed.
Helps summer reading program participants. Works on special projects as needed.
Performs other duties as required.
Responsible to observe all Watonwan County safety rules and to apply the principles of accident prevention in day-to-day duties.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
Ability to alphabetize and to put decimal numbers in correct numerical sequence. Some ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to perform basic data entry duties.
Ability to learn library standards and procedures. Ability to shelve all library materials.
Ability to maintain good working relationships with the staff, other county employees and the general public.
Approximately 6 hours per week at the St. James Library. Must be at least 15 years old by date of hire.
