Performs library circulation and customer service tasks by shelving and organizing materials, processing returns, assisting patrons, and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming library environment.
Environmental FactorsMedium physical demands. Frequent lifting, carrying, and moving. Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and to push or pull loaded carts and bins of materials. Work involves frequent reaching above shoulder level and below waist level to shelve or retrieve items. Frequent use of a personal computer.

This posting will be used to fill a full-time, 30 hour per week position and may be used to fill additional vacancies to include positions that are full-time, part-time, or contract.Full-time, regular, non-exempt position.
Position is graded at RN03
Equivalent to a High School Diploma. Previous customer service experience is desirable; experience working in a library environment is preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training may be applied in accordance with City of Las Cruces policy.
Knowledge of: principles, practices, techniques, activities, rules, and regulations related to the operations and functions of the position and services provided; current principles of record keeping and records management; principles and practices of effective research methods and data analysis, customer service, and problem resolution techniques; occupational and environmental safety and health hazards, and safety practices; safe and effective use and maintenance of related tools, materials, and equipment; current methods and standards for preparing effective business correspondence; correct English usage, grammar, composition, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary; business and personal computers and related software applications; City organization, operations, policies, and procedures to effectively perform the required functions and duties of the position.
