Introduction

Montclair Library is seeking a visionary Information Services Manager to lead a forward-thinking public service team. In this role, you will drive innovation in digital access and technology integration while shaping the future of community-focused programming. About This Role:

  • Supervises staff, including scheduling staff, creating goals, and writing evaluations, managing employees to maximize performance, approving timecards, and facilitating the staff discipline process. 
  • Serves on the branch management team.
  • Provides excellent customer service at an integrated service desk including patron accounts, game lounge, and room reservations.
  • Manages the facility, community room reservations, opening and closing, and submits maintenance requests as the person in charge. 
  • Manages library programming for Youth and Adult Services. Manages the donations budget and makes program purchasing decisions.
  • Serves as a branch liaison participating in policy and procedure improvements and revisions and special committee assignments.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a public library, to include 1 year in a supervisory role


Preferences:

  • 2 or more years Supervisory experience to include scheduling, training, and personnel management.
  • Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating high-impact programming and outreach initiatives for patrons of all ages.
  • Excellent customer service skills including policy interpretation, public service, and managing difficult situations. 
  • 1-year experience with collection management and development practices, ensuring the collection remains relevant and responsive to community needs.
  • Experience in managing the day-to-day operations of a public library facility, including oversight of opening/closing procedures, coordinating maintenance requests, and providing procedural feedback.
  • Experience with budget management, including monitoring expenditures, resource allocation, and providing financial forecasts for departmental services.
  • Experience serving on a multi-department management team: collaborating on branch processes. 


Special Requirements:  

The position may require travel to other branches within the system. A DMV check will be conducted for employees who drive while on County business.


Work Schedule:

This is a full-time, exempt 37.5 hours per week position. Hours are scheduled at Chinn Park Regional Library Monday through Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The schedule includes days, one evening per week, and alternating Saturdays as assigned. Scheduling flexibility is imperative. Schedule may vary depending on the needs of the library.


Hiring Salary Range:

$82,777.50 - $96,905.25
