The Library Director is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all library programs and services in alignment with La Marque Public Library's mission, vision and strategic goals. The Library Director is also responsible for oversight of daily operations, staff supervision, budget management, policy implementation, and community outreach.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for library programs, services, and operations.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and strategic plans in collaboration with City administration.
- Monitor public library trends and best practices and adapt services to meet the evolving needs of the La Marque community.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate library staff.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and customer-focused work environment.
- Promote professional development and support staff growth.
- Prepare and manage the library's annual operating budget.
- Seek outside funding opportunities through grants and partnerships.
- Ensure that the library is safe, welcoming, and accessible to all visitors.
- Promote La Marque Public Library as a hub of learning and community connection.
- Represent La Marque Public Library with schools and other community groups
- Provide regular reports on library operations and statistics for city council
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Submit annual report to Texas State Library and Archives Commission to maintain library accreditation
- Other duties as assigned
