The City of Fullerton is recruiting for a highly experienced Library Director to manage the day-to-day activities of the Fullerton Main Library and Hunt Branch. The successful candidate will have a broad background in library services and a strong track record of success in managing a multi-faceted organization. The new Director will work closely with the Library Board of Trustees and the City Manager’s Office and will be directly responsible for a department of 24 regular employees, with an operating budget of approximately 4.9 million. This senior-level executive will be results-driven, with well-grounded, ethical decision-making skills, superior interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated leadership potential, and outstanding public speaking abilities.

Employment Guidelines

Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and a master’s degree in library science or a related field from an accredited college or university. 

Experience: This position requires a minimum of eight years of recent, continuous, progressively responsible professional public library experience, including three years at the mid-management/supervisory level or higher in an organization comparable to Fullerton in terms of the scope of activity.
