Library Associate - Bookmobile Outreach

This is a non-Civil Service position located in the Nashville Public Library. The Bookmobile Outreach Associate supports Nashville Public Library and Limitless Libraries by promoting literacy and learning through mobile library services. Assists with coordinating bookmobile scheduling, outreach, and programming; provides exemplary customer-focused services to students, educators, community organizations, and families in diverse communities. Requires adaptability, strong communication, and commitment to service excellence.  Other duties as assigned. Some night and weekend work required.

• Serve as backup driver for the bookmobile.
• Perform pre/post-trip inspections and report safety concerns. (Basic vehicle dimensions: exterior width 102”, exterior height 12’ 6”, exterior length 35’, wheelbase 174”).
• Act as a representative of Limitless Libraries Bookmobile at community events and literacy initiatives.
• Develop and execute age-appropriate programs and outreach activities aligned with NPL and MNPS goals.
• Create promotional materials and assist with social media content.
• Assist with collection management, circulation, and inventory tracking.
• Provide readers’ advisory, reference support, and basic technical instruction.
• Maintain accurate records of visits, schedules, and program outcomes; administer post-visit surveys.
• Ensure a clean, safe, and organized workspace; sanitize high-touch areas regularly.
• Lift and transport materials up to 50 lbs; work in various indoor/outdoor environments.

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
     *Additional library or similar experience may be considered in lieu of education 

DRIVER'S LICENSE:
Valid "Class D" Driver's License, must obtain an “F” (Drive for Hire) endorsement prior to offer of employment.

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.

• Valid Tennessee Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• Experience driving large vehicles and applying defensive driving techniques

• Knowledge of general vehicle maintenance practices

• Extensive customer service experience with 2 years in library services 
• Fluent bilingual language skills
