Description

The Round Rock Public Library is seeking a friendly, customer-service-oriented Library Assistant to join our Youth Services Team. This full-time role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with the public, especially families and young patrons, and someone who thrives in a dynamic, creative, team environment. The Library Assistant will work at the youth reference desk, support youth programs, assist with outreach, and help keep our collections and services running smoothly.

We are looking for someone who can work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends, interact professionally with library patrons of all ages, and contribute positively to a team-oriented environment. Candidates who are bilingual and have a flair for creative projects, especially related to youth marketing displays or program promotion, are strongly encouraged to apply.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to patrons, both in person and by phone, offering reference assistance with finding materials and resources via the online catalog, library computers.

  • Support youth programs, including assisting with activities, outreach, teen and children’s events, and general program preparation.

  • Contribute to marketing and maintenance of youth collections by creating displays, bibliographies, and other promotional materials.

  • Perform general library duties such as opening/closing procedures, troubleshooting computers, assisting at service desks, and participating in volunteer training and supervision.


Experience & Training

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associate’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum two (2) years of previous customer service experience, ideally in a library setting.
