DPL is hiring a Library Assistant V for the Westwood Branch.  In this position, you will set a high standard of customer service as an example to direct reports and coworkers, welcoming all customers to the library, making connections that extend beyond the transactional, and explaining library policies so customers are able to meet obligations while finding value in their library experience. As team lead, you will use an equity-driven approach as you determine work priorities and develop schedules to provide staff coverage; work with direct reports on performance and engagement as a group and individually; develop work-related goals; provide performance feedback in one-on-one settings as well as yearly performance reviews and coach for improvement.

This position works closely with the branch supervisor, conducting hiring interviews and selecting high quality candidates that represent a wide array of perspectives and life experiences, reporting building and technology issues, and serving as person-in-charge in the branch supervisor’s absence. As the point person for Circulation, you will oversee circulation functions by interpreting policies, communicating procedural changes, and using informed judgment appropriately and equitably to resolve issues. You will also serve as the branch Change Fund Custodian, being a responsible steward of all cash funds and customer payments, and ensuring staff are up to date in training and processes.

The Westwood Branch Library is located within the Westwood Community Center. While we are the smallest Denver library, we are proud to offer dedicated customer service, in English and Spanish, to our diverse community. Much of our work involves outreach to the community, meeting our customers where they are. We, also, serve as a hub for the Westwood community’s technology needs.

  • A demonstrated commitment to developing and maintaining a welcoming environment for young people, including babies, toddlers, preschoolers, grade schoolers, and teens.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.

  • Three (3) years of clerical experience 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Spanish language proficiency highly preferred

Redeployment during Citywide Emergencies
