Performs varied technical library services including mending, processing, and cataloging in the Technical Services Department. This position is also responsible for circulation coverage.
· Processes library materials
· Performs circulation desk duties
· Receives materials and verifies invoices
· Evaluates and mends adult materials
· Orders all processing and mending supplies
· Coordinates and processes bindery shipments
· Performs limited cataloging tasks for print materials on an as-needed basis.
· Attaches and deletes holding to existing records in SAILS database.
· Performs similar or related work as required or as directed by the Technical Services / Reference Librarian
· High School Diploma, minimum
· Public or school library experience preferred
· Experience processing/mending library materials preferred
· Experience with automated systems and personal computers preferred
18 hours/per week, non-benefitted position.
Tentative schedule includes: Mondays 9:00am to 1:30pm; Tuesdays 4:00pm to 8:00pm; Wednesdays 9:00am to 1:30pm; Alternating Friday/Saturday 12:00pm to 5:00pm.
Employee is regularly required to walk, stand, sit, speak and hear; uses hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls. Able to reach with hands and arms as in picking up paper, files and other common office objects. Employee may be required to stoop, bend and lift or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds. Vision and hearing at or correctable to normal ranges; requires ability to read documents and use a computer.
Work is performed under typical office conditions; noise level is quiet to moderate; work is subject to seasonal fluctuations and administrative deadlines.
Operates computer, facsimile machine, copier, scanner, typewriter, and other standard office equipment. Has contact with town employees and officials, Library Board of Trustees, vendors, and patrons. Has access to patron information.
