Position Description:

The primary function of the Library Assistant II position is to manage Access and User Services for Dwight Anderson Memorial Music Library. This position will manage the information/circulation desk and will assist in other areas of library services including cataloging, interlibrary loan, reference, and collection maintenance. This position plays a key role in enhancing the student experience and in supporting student success. This position requires in-person customer service and may require working occasional evenings and weekends. Hourly rate of $19.03

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the information/circulation desk, maintain usage and circulation statistics. Perform all levels of circulation duties, including opening and/or closing the library.

  • Assist with processing, sorting, and cataloging items and/or collections from our archives, and the distribution/disposal of unwanted materials.

  • Provide music reference assistance to patrons.

  • Support all aspects of interlibrary loan and document delivery services. Maintain and report accurate statistics.

  • Assist with all aspects of collection maintenance, including shelving, shifting, and inventorying. Work with the director and assistant director on implementing weeding and item replacement projects.

  • Collaborate with the Student Supervisor to provide guidance and direction to student personnel in the absence of the supervisor to ensure proper desk coverage.

  • Assist in the creation of physical and digital exhibits that showcase the library’s collections and services.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in music.

  • General knowledge of music terms and notation.

  • Three or more years related work experience.

  • Experience working in music libraries, academic libraries, or archives.

  • Experience using library management system software.

  • Experience in copy cataloging and/or archival material processing and finding aid creation.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
