JOB TITLE: Library Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Library
REPORTS TO: Director of Library Services
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Provide direct service to library users at the Service Desk.
Required Skills
Able to perform detail-oriented tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
Able to work unsupervised and independently.
Willing to ask questions when appropriate.
Good interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Skills/Experience
Experience in customer service.
Library work experience.
Schedule
Minimum of 5 hours weekly. Shifts will be built around classes and academic commitments.
All student workers will have paid work meetings for one-on-ones, training, and year-end evaluations.
New student workers will have additional paid training sessions during the first semester of employment.
Evening and weekend availability a plus.
Additional Information
Library student workers who demonstrate excellence may be given special assignments or the opportunity to serve as Lead Student Workers. These assignments may include archives, processing, plants, equipment, or social media.
