What You'll Do
Check materials in and out, assist with holds, and update patron records
Issue and renew library cards while maintaining accurate accounts
Provide friendly, helpful service at the circulation desk
Help patrons find materials and navigate basic library services
Sort, shelve, and shift materials to keep collections organized and accessible
Operate self-check machines, computers, copiers, and other equipment
Collect fines and fees and help prepare daily deposits
Prepare reports, order supplies, and ensure materials remain in good condition
To succeed in this role, you’ll need strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with a team, and a commitment to providing inclusive service to a diverse community. You should be comfortable engaging with patrons of all ages, including children, teens, and those who speak languages other than English. Initiative, creativity, and flexibility are key—along with a willingness to grow and learn.
What We're Looking For
Minimum Qualifications
A combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma or GED
One (1) year of fast-paced, professional customer service or related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Two or more years of education beyond high school
Three (3) or more years of customer service experience
Prior library experience
A valid Florida Driver’s License
Work Schedule: Part-time, not benefit-eligible, 40 hours bi-weekly. Hours vary and will include evenings, Saturdays, and some Sundays.
Location Flexibility: Employees may be reassigned temporarily or permanently to other locations in the system based on operational needs
