Incarnate Word High School, an all-girls Catholic high school sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, seeks a full-time Librarian & Technology Specialist for the 2024-2025 school year. The school seeks to maintain a fully and authentically Catholic environment. This position reports to the Director of Technology and Information Systems.


POSITION SUMMARY:
· Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
· Maintains a professional relationship with faculty, staff, students, parents and community members.
· Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters.
· Plan, organize, coordinate, oversee, and provide library services to include special events in the media center.
· Communicates and works effectively with students, parents, and other professionals in selecting and using research materials and technology.
· Encourages the use of the library by faculty and students.
· Process and circulate books using the integrated library system Koha.
· Maintains the online library resources, EBSCO, JSTOR, E-Books, and other library resources.
· Instruct students and faculty on how to acquire, evaluate, and use the information and the technology needed in this process.
· Provides library instruction using the online library database to teach students how to research for class projects.
· Schedules Media Center events and conference room meetings on the department calendar and Discussion rooms for students.
· Follows school policies in selecting materials.
· Enforces school policy in the Media Center and monitors student expectations during all mods.
· Establishes library policies and procedures.
· Selects and orders books, periodicals, vertical file material, picture collections, audiovisual hardware and software, appropriate computer discs and programs, and materials for professional collection with the approval of the principal.
· Maintains library records, statistics, and database.
· Ensure volume number and references comply with accreditation standards.
· Supervises shelf reading, takes inventory, and keeps the library in order.
· Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
· Assists students, faculty, and staff in using the Media Center’s Information Systems, resource materials, and learning resources equipment.
· Conferences with parents upon request and responds to messages in a timely manner.
· Demonstrates a willingness to respond to individual learning needs.
· Prepares publicity, displays, and bulletin board materials.
· Performs various administrative and clerical duties for the Media Center and the school.
· Operates and knows standard office equipment, including computers, laptops, iPads, smartboards, and other media equipment.
· Monitors students during school hours to ensure best behavior management and enforces Media Center policies and procedures.
· Assists with tasks in Blackbaud, the Student Check-in system, and other comparable Learning Management Systems.
· Basic technical knowledge on troubleshooting and application tutorials.
· Proficient knowledge of Microsoft and Google applications.
· Account creation, deletion, and access to Blackbaud, Google and other Media Center systems.
· Be a leader in information literacy and digital citizenship.
· Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Requires the ability to display knowledge of standard office and Media Center practices and procedures.
· Requires the ability to display knowledge of the use of specified computer applications involving word processing, data entry, and/or standard report generation.
· Requires the ability to display knowledge of customer service skills necessary to effectively interact with staff, students, and constituents to give and receive information professionally and courteously.
· Skill in motivating and engaging students in the learning process.
· Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously.


REQUIRED EDUCATION:
· Master's degree in Library Science, Library Certification from an accredited American Library Association (ALA) institution.
· One year experience with customer service help desk support.
