McLaughlin Research Corporation seeks an enthusiastic Librarian to join a collaborative library team working at the Corporate Research & Information Center (CRIC)’s Technical Library at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport.
The Librarian will primarily support Outreach responsibilities of coordinating Outreach effort logistics for participating organizations, Outreach Engagement, & Outreach Special Projects. Key tasking for this includes hosting live and virtual demonstrations of the Library’s website, resources, and services; creating & maintaining outreach communication templates; creating the annual outreach plan; writing outreach content; and coordinating outreach posting calendar. The Librarian will also secondarily support the Library’s Reference team to provide on-site & remote reference services to Research Commons Library Users. Key tasking for this includes a scheduled shift to monitor research and information requests; completing Research Projects; and providing research consultations to library users. If the Librarian has any additional interests or strengths in library finances, subscriptions, e-resources, or Drupal development they would have the opportunity to support tasking within these areas as well.
All Librarians on the team support the CRIC's Technical Information Library, including both the S&T Library and the Classified Library and all in-person Library Services to NUWC Newport. This includes providing ready reference and material circulation services for NUWC Newport library users. All Librarians on the team also support the CRIC's Digital Information Projects Program, including the Research Commons, Digital Repositories, and all virtual Digital Library Services to all Research Commons participants across the Department of Defense. The Librarian may also work on digital projects such as cataloging or collection inventory projects based on strengths, interest, and need.

Must be able to successfully obtain an Active Security Clearance – Secret Level.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of library science.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Detail-oriented, innovative, and proactive with experience working both collaboratively and independently.
• Proficiency in the use of technology for the delivery of library services and an awareness of current trends.
• Must be able to meet customer facility COVID requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Library & Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
• Experience troubleshooting access issues to e-resources and finding solutions to technological barriers to access.
• Experience providing research consultations, information literacy education presentations, and live demonstrations.
• Experience working with a digital repository and associated metadata
