PURPOSE AND NATURE OF WORK
Positions in this class are responsible for a specialized library function which may involve supervisory work and requires little supervision. Positions in the youth services section are responsible for providing library services to children, teens, and their parents or caregivers, including staffing a public service desk, and planning and providing age specific programming. Participates in all library activities involving youth, including outreach activities to schools and organizations, and supervises paraprofessionals associated with the same. Current vacancy is associated with the Outreach and Programming section, and some programming for adult patrons may be required. Position is also responsible for coordinating and directing work flow on the Bookmobile in the absence of the Outreach & Programming designated Librarian III. Operation of Bookmobile requires obtainment of Class D Chauffer’s license. Not all positions under this class or designation will have this same requirement.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Experience or interest in working with the relevant demographic preferred. Incumbents will be required to work some nights and weekends.
SPECIAL NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
TYPE OF EXAMINATION - Examination will be a rating of education and experience through a structured interview.
