Job Summary

Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) is seeking to fill the Head of Teen Services position at the Sterling Library.

LCPL staff build community by providing exceptional library services and programs to customers of all ages and backgrounds. The Head of Teen Services will oversee the Teen Services department in the branch, supervise and evaluate staff, plan and conduct programs, serve as a member of the branch management team and ensure the daily delivery of high-quality services. Successful candidates will develop and nurture effective relationships with staff, customers and the community as well as:

  • Foster a positive team whose performance and dedication are essential to the Library's mission.
  • Be passionate, creative team players with excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Be aware of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in public library services.
Strong multi-tasking, organizational and technology skills are a must for the successful candidate.

LCPL provides services seven (7) days a week. Work schedules vary and include weekends, evenings and holidays.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience 

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Master's Degree in Library Science from an accredited American Library Association school and two (2) years of related library experience, including one (1) year of supervisory experience. Previous experience in a public library setting strongly preferred. 

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

  • Some bending, reaching, walking and standing required.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds required.
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly, concisely and effectively, orally and in writing is required.
  • Spanish/English bilingual skills preferred.
  • Successful candidate will undergo a criminal, DMV and credit check.
