Librarian II

Advanced professional position with responsibility for the management of a library department under limited supervision. Employee provides creative insight and practical support to the Library Director and staff. 

Operations/Administrative
Plans and coordinates overall library services with the Library Director. Oversees the efficient operation of a library department and manages a materials budget. 
Participates in ongoing collection development through selection and ordering of new materials and weeding of old items. 
Contributes input for library goals and objectives and for establishing departmental policies and procedures. 
Attends professional meetings and conferences, keeps abreast of library trends and issues. 
Prepares a variety of reports, statistical analyses, and summaries. 
Manages the maintenance of equipment and materials.

Training/Staff Management
Supervises and trains departmental staff in policy, procedures, and delivery of services. 
Schedules and evaluates departmental staff.
 
Customer Service
Provides reference, searching, bibliographic, and reader assistance to patrons. 
Creates and teaches classes on using computers and library resources. 
Develops, organizes and presents a variety of programs and outreach activities. 
Coordinates publicity to promote programs 

Performs other duties as required.

Education
Minimum education requirement: Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited college or university. 

Preferred education: Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited college or university and additional graduate education.

Licensure 
Valid Florida Driver's License

Experience
Minimum experience/management requirement: Two to three years of library experience with one year of supervisory/management experience. 

Preferred experience level: Three to five years supervisory/management experience in a library, municipal or other public entity. 

Combination of training and/or experience may be substituted for required education, experience and/or management experience.
