Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Promote and market library services.
- Assists patrons in the use of library facilities; explains library policies and procedures to the public, and library staff.
- Performs reference work at a professional level, according to Level of incumbent.
- Selects, orders, maintains, and weeds collections in assigned subject areas.
- Presents programming, story times, tours, and outreach events.
- May supervise, review work, and evaluate clerical and/or paraprofessional employees.
- Selects, arranges, and promotes the library through outreach activities.
- Keeps current with materials acquired by library; prepares statistics, reports, and programs.
- Designs, coordinates and implements library programs for special events.
- Index and catalog material.
- Provide readers advisory.
- Answer customer inquiries.
- Promote and market library services.
Minimum Qualifications
Librarian I
Education:
Possession a Master of Library Science (MLS) degree from an American Library Association accredited library school, preferably with some additional study in library, business and/or public administration.
Librarian II
Experience:
One (1) year of experience equivalent to a Librarian I in Merced County.
Education:
Possession a Master of Library Science (MLS) degree from an American Library Association accredited library school, preferably with some additional study in library, business and/or public administration.
