McLaughlin Research Corporation seeks an enthusiastic Librarian to join a collaborative library team working at the Corporate Research & Information Center (CRIC)’s Technical Library at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport.
The Librarian’s primary role will be to maintain our Classified government material collection and spearhead all Classified Library projects and tasking. This will include key tasking such as maintaining secure spaces & Classified material organization; cataloging Government Documents and other Classified material; oversight of special Classified material collections; leading Classified inventory initiatives and reporting; supporting library users with classified material requests; and supporting Classified research projects. The Librarian will also secondarily support the Library’s Reference team to provide on-site & remote reference services to Research Commons Library Users. Key tasking for this includes a scheduled shift to monitor research and information requests; completing Research Projects; and providing research consultations to library users. If the Librarian has any additional interests or strengths in library finances, subscriptions, e-resources, outreach, or Drupal development they would have the opportunity to support tasking within these areas as well.
All Librarians on the team support the CRIC's Technical Information Library, including both the S&T Library and the Classified Library and all in-person Library Services to NUWC Newport. This includes providing ready reference and material circulation services for NUWC Newport library users. All Librarians on the team also support the CRIC's Digital Information Projects Program, including the Research Commons, Digital Repositories, and all virtual Digital Library Services to all Research Commons participants across the Department of Defense. The Librarian may also work on digital projects such as cataloging, or collection inventory projects based on strengths, interest, and need.
