Job Description Summary

The Library Assistant will assist the librarians with class visits, orientations, and one-on-one research appointments with students. Additionally, the position may monitor and assist ENC students in the Writing Center, providing specific assistance with research and citation styles. The candidate should have current information technology/computer skills, including experience with a variety of modalities (F2F and online).

The Library Assistant will report to the Associate Dean. This position is a flexible work schedule Mondays through Fridays with some evenings. This part-time position will be approximately 26 hours in a week.

This position allows eligible veterans and their spouses to claim Veterans’ Preference pursuant
to Florida Statute 295. Certain servicemembers may be eligible to receive waivers for
postsecondary educational requirements, in the employment by the state and its political
subdivisions and are encouraged to apply for the positions being filled.

Minimum Education:

  • Currently enrolled in an ALA accredited Library or Information Master’s program.

Minimum Experience/Training:

  • Experience with reference and instruction services or working in an academic environment serving college students preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Possess excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to respond to patron needs and any situation that may arise
  • Knowledge of MLA and APA style guides and citations and ability to offer tutoring for written assignments
  • Contributes as a team member
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff
