Assists in assigned area to provide quality programs, activities, and assistance to library patrons.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responds to requests for reference information and readers’ advisory received from patrons in person, by phone and via email.
- Creates, develops, promotes and implements programs and projects in assigned area.
- Instructs the public in the use of Library resources.
- Performs collection maintenance and development duties.
- Performs record cleanup of the library catalog involving items already in the collection.
- Assists in the selection, maintenance, and organization of materials in assigned area.
- Assists patrons with utilizing computers and mobile technology.
- Participates in marketing of library services and materials.
- Provides coverage at the public service desks.
- Serves as Librarian-in-charge as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:
- Serves as a proactive, flexible, and creative member of the Library’s Adult Services team.
- Develops, plans and implements adult programs commensurate with community needs and interests, including partnering with community agencies and organizations.
- Evaluates program success through statistics, stories, and other measures.
- Assists with meeting room management as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, training and Experience Guidelines
Master’s degree from an accredited American Library Association college or university with major coursework in Library and Information Science, including at least one (1) reference course, or currently enrolled in an accredited Library and Information Science Master’s degree program.
Knowledge of:
- Library services, programs, research, and resources specific to area of assignment.
- Library classification systems.
- Reference tools, with experience using both printed and automated products.
- Customer service methods and techniques.
- City policies and procedures.
Skill in:
- Utilizing the computer and related equipment, hardware, and software to perform data entry, review, retrieval, and research.
- Prioritizing, tracking, and managing multiple projects, assignments and duties.
- Communicating effective, both orally and in writing.
- Making formal presentations before audiences of peers or patrons.
- Assisting and providing instructions for children and adults.
- Utilizing Internet websites, professional publications, and references.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Compiling and analyzing simple statistics.
- Evaluating, interpreting, and analyzing day-to-day operations and formulating effective solutions to identified problems.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Valid Class C Texas driver’s license
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, crouching, bending, vision, hearing, talking, use of foot controls. May be subject to repetitive motion such as typing, data entry, and vision to monitor.

Hiring Range: $51,189.32 - $64,126.40, annually.
