Position Summary

Green River College is seeking an adjunct reference and instruction librarian to begin Fall 2025.
 Priority consideration will be given to applications received by  July 1.
 
Holman Library at Green River College is hiring a part-time reference and instruction librarian to begin September 19, 2025. 

Green River College and its librarians serve one of the most diverse student populations in Washington State. We seek candidates with a passion for supporting student success at the reference desk and in the classroom. We encourage all who meet the minimum qualifications to apply.

About the College Green River College's student body is made up of approximately 41% Academic Transfer students, 34% Professional-Technical students, 15% Adult Basic Education students, and 3% Applied Bachelor degrees.  Green River College has four campuses, including the main campus in Auburn, Washington, with satellite campuses in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw.  Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, students learning English, and Continuing Education students. Green River's service areas are increasingly ethnically diverse, comprising African Americans, African immigrants, Asian Americans, Asians, Latinx, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Middle Eastern Americans, among other communities.

Position Responsibilities

Basic Functions of the Position

  • Provide reference and research assistance at the reference desk, on the phone, and online.
  • Provide instruction and assessment in one-on-one, classroom, and online settings.
  • Work on other projects and tasks as needed such as providing collection management support, developing online library resources, and creating display materials.

Work Schedule The successful candidate will work 12-18 hours per week, predominantly in-person reference at Holman Library on our main campus in Auburn, WA. Available shifts include opening shifts and midday hours on weekdays. 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • ALA-accredited master’s degree in library and information science (MLIS) completed by September 2025.
  • Reference or other service-related experience, or related coursework
  • Library instruction or other teaching-related experience
